One thing many video games struggle with is storytelling. Here is the game that had the Best Story/Writing in 2011…
Portal 2
While the actual plot of Portal 2 isn’t the greatest, the writing is what won it this award.
I can not think of a single joke, or comment, in Portal 2 that wasn’t funny, or well timed.
But not only did the writers continue to make GLaDOS funny, but they were able to add two new characters that were equally, if not more funny.
Like a favorite movie, Portal 2 is something that you will want to replay at least once a year, even if it is just to relive all of the great jokes.

I would have liked to see more results from the reader poll, such as a list of all the runners up in order. Otherwise, this is a great list, and I can definitely agree with you on a lot of the choices you’ve made.
Also, a tip: I might suggest putting one of the awards on the first page of the post, this will act as a way to draw readers in, and inform them that there are more pages within the post (I almost didn’t find the extra pages, myself).
The Last of Us is my most anticipated game of 2012.
