2011’s outdatedreviews Game of the Year Awards!!!

A lot of great games came out last year. Shooter fans sat nestled in their dens getting in some personal time with the latest iteration of the blockbuster Call of Duty franchise. Fantasy lovers spent countless hour roaming through all of upper Tamriel in the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. But if neither of those games grabbed you there were plenty of others grabbing. Uncharted 3, Skyward Sword, Portal 2, Gears of War 3, and those are only a few of the vast amount of games released in 2011.

So no matter if you liked Battlefield more than Call of Duty, you really can’t argue that 2011 was an amazing year for gamers.

But something we can argue about…What the best game of the year was.

So here it goes: the 2011 outdatedreviews Game of the Year awards. Read the rest of this entry

Metal Gear Solid 2 sure is old.

So I’ve been playing a lot of Metal Gear Solid 2 (MGS 2). And I wouldn’t say I love the game so far, and at one point I almost gave up and skipped over to Metal Gear Solid 3. But I’ve stuck with it and I’m glad I did because things are starting to look up. Read the rest of this entry

In a nutshell: Assassin’s Creed: Revelations (2011) PS3 version.

Assassin’s Creed II is one of my all time favorite games . AC: Brotherhood was good but not nearly as good as II was. Read the rest of this entry

Gears of War 3 (2011), video game review.

In 2007 if you had asked me what my favorite video game was I probably would have said some Nintendo game or an early Playstation game. Fast forward to winter of 2008 and the only game I was playing was Gears of War 2, where I had racked up over a thousand rounds of multiplayer…offline. So naturally since Gears 3 came out earlier this week it has completely consumed my life.

Gears of War 3 may well be the greatest third-person shooter to come out on any system, let alone the Xbox 360. Packed with a ton of great modes, including the new four-player campaign and Beast mode, there’s a lot to love in Gears 3. And even if it was the same old game as the last one, only reskinned, I’d probably still have the same amount of playtime. But luckily…its much much more. Read the rest of this entry

inFamous 2 (2011), video game review.

For this review I am trying a different format. Instead of an introduction and then the “Good and The Bad” section it is now just one big thing, followed by a brief overview. I did change the wording a tiny bit in the overview section. Please leave some comments on this post and others about how you liked them (or didn’t), and any other thoughts.

For those of you who are reading this and are not familiar with Cole McGrath, and the inFamous universe, first off, go read my review for the first game. Then go out and obtain the first game, play through it, and then you can come back and read my review for the sequel. If you have done that then you will know that Read the rest of this entry

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction (2010), video game review.

I’m a big fan of stealth games. Metal Gear Solid 4 made it onto my Top 10 Favorite Games list, the original MGS is one of my favorites, and I always like the odd stealth missions that pop up in most modern first person shooters. As for the Tom Clancy universe of games, those I’m not so familiar. I own and have played through Rainbow Six Vegas 2, but that’s pretty much it; I own the first Splinter Cell on the Gamecube but I never play it. But none-the-less I was very excited back in what I think was E3 ’09 when they were showing the Conviction gameplay demo.
But now its been over a year since it came out and all that I’ve played of it is the demo and five minutes of the co-op with a friend. I don’t really now why I haven’t played it sooner, but anyways now I’ve played through it.
Read on to see my thoughts on the game… Read the rest of this entry
